'99-'01 2.5 rs insurance rates
hey i'm looking into getting a 2.5 rs because insurance for wrx is too high so if anyone could answer my questions that would be great.
1. what is the car classified as by insurance companies?
2. what are your rates for this car? age? violations?
thanks. i have a speeding violation and an accident.

It'll be more than a Civic and less than a WRX. Sorry for the vague response, but it's just too hard to guess at your rates. Your personal info and location have a much bigger effect on your comprehensive coverage than the car itself. Your liability won't be too bad because of the car's good safety record and low power (relatively).

No matter what shop around with as many insurance companies as you can but keep in mind the small bargain basement company might not be the best choice cause if something does happen they might be the ones to fight you when it comes time to pay up. I'm using Erie Insurance and have never had a problem.

There is a cutoff age that insurance companies use to classify people in risk categories. Apparently, until you turn 25, especially if you are a male, you are a huge risk... They use some statistics horse crap- whatever... I am 19 and have a perfect driving record and my insurance is insane as is.
This has always made me wonder if they rate the 90 yr. old lady who cant see over the steering wheel and drives 45 on the freeway as high risk also... I'm sure the statistics would vouche (sp?) for this as well.

Even though the elderly are the second highest risk behind the wheel I don't think I have never heard of them pay the rates that would be justified had the insurance agencies actually used the weighted system for coming up with rates like they claim.

The elderly would be the first to complain about discriminatory rates if higher rates applied to them. Younger folks don't have as much of a voice to our policitians. Its all about politics, not just statistics.

I own 2000 RS and pay less insurance with this car than the others I've owned, due to the safety designation given to this model by the insurance companies. As you know, insurance rates are predicated mostly by age, gender, driving record, and state of registration. If you fall into the category of under 25, male and have a speeding ticket and an accident, you will surely have a higher rate of insurance than usual. Add on a rated vehicle re. WRX, sti etc. and the insurance becomes insane.

well, I'm 24, and have a perfect record, and on my 99RS its140. my 02 WRX before I sold her it was 170-190(i forget). I priced a STI and its like 220-250.
BTW, i'm a divorcee with a kid, so some places will give you a lower rate cause of that.
