08 STi going in for blown engine :(
Sadly my 2008 AW STi blew it's engine on Tuesday after a short drive. Started clicking, then got louder and louder. I pulled over and there was a horrible violent clicking sound
Car got towed to my house and has been sitting in my driveway until it can get towed today. It is going to Capitol Subaru due to the fact that I bought it 2 months ago. Hopefully everything goes smoothly.

I had it towed to the dealer this afternoon and they said that unless it was heavily modified or abused, it will be covered by my warranty(it is still under 3Years/36kmiles).
I am interested to see what the piston looks like as I have been told that the damage is amazingly minor. I was told they would take it apart tomorrow and be able to tell me the problem.
I am also waiting to get a rental/loaner car from them as this was my only vehicle (friend loaned me a car for a couple days).
After my bad experience previously with Capitol, I was very pleased with how I was treated and the answers I was given to my questions by the new service tech. Hopefully this ends with a positive, happy review of Capitol Subaru!

wow man that hurts, I hope Subaru will play nice and fix it for free, did you have some kind of tuning on the car?

Got off the phone with the service tech today. They said they pulled the oil pan and found "lots of metal".
They also noted that just today they found a modification report on my vehicle. I asked for any information on the report and they said that there was nothing attached with it, no date, no dealer name, no listing of the modification, and no listing of the relevance to what is going on now.
I just called Subaru of America to ask about the report and they were closed for the weekend. I will call back first thing Monday and see what's up. Car was sold to me as a Certified Pre-Owned with full original warranty and the Subaru 6Year/100kmiles extended warranty. It had a Catback Apexi N1 exhaust, K&N drop in filter, and Kartboy short throw shifter when I got it.
Exhaust was replaced with a stock which was then replaced with a Greddy SE and then put back to stock because it was too loud.
I am suspecting that the modification report is from the previous owner who modified the vehicle, here is his journal from IWSTI:

Same License number, purchased from the same dealer, on the same date, registered to the same person as my car previously was, previous owner had custom exhaust made, all mods my car came with that car had, boost gauge mounting holes are identical. Long story short, it is the same car.
