No sweat, man.

Your car is still valued at $20k ?

Damn. I'd be a little concerned if the frame is bent. My wasn't so it didn't end up being an issue. You need to get an official estimate from a body shop to find out what the real repair costs are gonna be.

If you want it to be a ****load of money, so that you have a good chance of getting it totaled, take it to Bertoluccis. They did great work on my car - cost was about $10,xxx though . I wouldn't be surprised if you beat $20k in cost by taking it to them. They're located downtown just off Stockton.

Body Craft in Rancho Cordova does great work. Multiple BAIC members have taken their car there and you can't even tell it was wrecked. They're a lot cheaper than Bertoluccis too.

I think it only takes 70 or 80% of the car's value for it to be totaled, but that's still a lot of money. Like Sonicsuby said, I'd go to BodyCraft.

Fullerton is a bit far from Elk Grove. And what's with that last line?

i would insist that they total the car. i wouldn't drive around in a car that had a bent frame. even after straightening it you lose a lot of structural integrity/rigidity

I know about the structural integrity. I don't want it to be totalled because it's my baby but I don't know if I want to drive around in it if the structural integrity is not there. I thought about taking it to a place where they would charge a "****load" (~Sonicsuby)...but what makes me want to take in into Hayes Brother is that they guarantee their work. If Body works does that then it is bodyworks for sure. Still, I got a lil skeptic when the adjustor told me that the frame was messed and that they could cut it and fix it...

Is Bertoluccis pretty good? Because if they do not assess the car to be totalled, then I would want them to work on it. Also, when you said Stockton...did you mean stockton blvd or Stockton city? I'm pretty torn right now man! I guess I'm just gonna go with Bertolucci's

Bertoluccis is off Stockton Blvd in Sac near downtown. They did great work on my car. You seriously can't even tell my car was wrecked and they replace EVERYTHING. You should have seen my estimate - it was 5 pages long

Who is your insurance company? Honestly, with a bent frame, I would definitely request that the car be totaled.

That's the problem though. I can't request that the car be totalled. It is up to Bertolucci's to give me an estimate that will declare the car as totalled. If that doesn't work out, Bertolucci's is a good body shop and they should do good work on her.

Insurance is Allstate.

my friend totalled his mustang... it had a lot of worth to it (relatively speaking).... the car wasn't even functional after totaled.... he bought it back for $150 and sold the parts.... made a large profit.
