USDM STi motor: 500 HP, 11 sec 1/4 mile potential?
I spoke to a second buddy of mine who has a shop with an AWD dyno and also on the waiting list for the STi. He was tellingmme that the car can do 500 HP easily and be able to get into the 11's.
I was wondering how much $$$ or mods would it take to get it to run 11.0-11.5 in the 1/4? 10's?
I also heard that next years Evo will complete with the 6-speed tranny and ACD AYC.... We'll see what happens then next year

500 HP at the wheel or at the crank? No one know anything yet since the car is not even out yet. But I say it would do 400 HP at the wheel easily. Easy doesn't mean cheap. How much it cost all depends on how reliable you want the car. Power is cheap, reliability is VERY expensive. I mean you can always stick a 200 shot of NOS on it and you have 500 HP that cost you less then $1000. But the motor probably would last less then 10 run. The price between using high end quality components and cheaply made parts that just get by is huge. For example the price between a Japanese brand name titanium full exhaust and a 3" Midas special could be a few thousand dollars. My estimate is it would take at least $10~$15K of engine and drivetrain mods to have a reliable 500 HP WRX STi.
My back ground is in Skyline GTR. The GTR is kind of similar to the WRX STi as they are also 4WD, small motor with high boost. The main different is the GTR generally weight 200 more lbs. A GTR with 500 WHP pull low to mid 11s on street tires. So you can expect the STi to do the same thing with the same power. Another different I just think of is the STi uses a much narrower tires compare to the GTR, where 275mm wide tires fit on a stock GTR.
