New Here..
Well, Subaru has my money, and I'm just waiting to get my STi. They're telling me to expect her around mid-July. I can't wait.. I really can't..
I am switching from primarily show to more autocross.. this is my first majorly turbocharged car.. where should I go to learn more about what I should do for upgrades and what I can expect to get out of them? I'm teaching myself about the systems and so I have a pretty good idea about how it works.. just trying to see what I can do to get the most practical power out of her.
Anyways, my name is Miranda.. nice to meet you guys.. my other baby (soon to be sold) can be seen at:

Mods
To be perfectly honest, I think the STi will be extremely capable in stock form. Personally, I'm going to be very judicious with the mods; I think it's real easy to end up with something which impresses people on paper (and costs an arm and a leg) but is less than capable on the street.....if you're going to use it more for tracking and Auto-X then that's a bit different.
I'm going to start off with simple and useful items..... a set of Defi gauges, possibly some 17" Volk CE28N rims for summer (use the BBS rims for winter), a decent stereo (since it doesn't come with one standard), possibly a titanium cat-back exhaust (JIC, Kakimoto, Fujitsubo)............and leave it at that. I'm going to wait to see what Prodrive come up with in terms of power mods.....rumours are that a 400 bhp kit (re-mapped ECU, exhaust etc.) is in the works for the USDM STi. For day-to-day driveability I would prefer a well developed/re-programmed ECU from a reputable firm than taking the A/F, boost controller route etc.
Anyway, welcome to i-club.

Thanks so much. This car is going to wind up doing a little bit of everything (for a while at least). I can always do the ole drag strip route.. which would be both fun and easy. But I am also interested in learning how to drive autocross. On the other hand, I am in the show-n-sound scene, and my sponsor company wants to do a custom system in it. I would love to, but something tells me I'll have problems later on with autocross and weight for racing. I dunno... tooooo many options.
Speaking of systems.. I know for a fact that there's no head unit or amplifier.. that does mean there are no door speakers or any other wiring, right? Or does anyone know? I want to start from scratch.. the less wiring to work around, the better..
and thanks again, guys, for being so open..

It was kinda funny watching me huddled over my guage cluster in a Circuit City Roadshop, trying to get everything to work with an iron and wire chord.. part of me will miss the beauty of that car (and how much time I put into getting all that stuff done to her myself), but I can do so much with the STi that I couldn't dream of with the Celica..

I look forward to hearing more as you build up your STi. I'm very involved in rallying and fairly involved in auto crossing, so I plan on keeping my STi very low key on the sound system. I've got my other cars for that.
Oh, and whenever autocrossing everything in the car that isn't bolted down has to be removed, and for good reasons. So if you put a box in the trunk eaither make it with quick connects to get it in and out easy, or bolt it solid.
Good luck,
Keith

Thanks!! I try to be a good chick.. believe it or not, I'm single too. LOL.. anyways, I want to do a lot to it, but I don't want to compromise my ability to run it on the track. So, my audio shop is gonna have to work overtime with me to figure out how we can do it without risking damage to the system, or my trunk!
BTW -- trunk space is the same as the WRX sedan, right? If anyone has any pictures of the open trunk, I'd love to get those along with some dimensions so the shop can get started on some ideas..
