Because the STi is meant to be a racecar for the street. Thats why there is no standard radio, the glass is thinner, etc. this car is all about saving weight where ever possible. The STi is not meant to be the haul stuff around car, it's meant to be the (for lack of a better term) the poormans racecar.

I don't know about the latest JDM Spec STi but earlier generations have all included wagon versions, so it's a shame we won't be seeing those here.

What I meant was that they are not really meant for the street. The idea is that most of the people buying these things will be rallying them and racing them. The only reason that they are coming through dealerships is so that different sanctioning bodies recognize them as cars that fit the rules.
