Do you mean spare tyre? standard issue with the spare is that it's always smaller than the 17" or 18" alloys you get with the car (also a full sized wheel won't fit spare wheel comparement of the trunk). I just know I've got a spare for peace of mind but have not looked at it in detail because I could not imagine using this pig-ugly wheel!
Downshift,
I'm from the UK and drive a Japanese spec 2.0litre@280hbp STi as opposed to the 2.5litre@300bhp version you'll be getting in the States.
lucky you!!!

Hey Uncle Si
I did mean spare tire. I was more wondering if it would fit over the front brake calipers. On another board, there was a post saying that the metal doughnut of a spare did not fit the front. If a front tire was flattened, the doughnut would replace one of the back wheels and that wheel would then replace the flattened front one. If you could take a quick look at the owner's manual, I would appreciate it.
Thanks,

STiDreams...
it doesn't say anything about not fitting (i'd be shocked if it did!).
Seriously though, Subaru or any other car manufactuer in that matter would not make a spare tire that would only fit either the front or back wheels only...LOL
take it easy duda

Uncle Si,
Would you please reference your owners manual and tell us the following specs on the spar tire assembly;
* Rim height, width & offset
* Spare tire size (width & section)
And if possible would you remove the tire from the vehicle and weigh it. Just use an ordinary bathroom scale.
You weigh yourself first for a 'tare' weight, then weigh you plus the tire and subtract the tare from the result for a precise measurement.
Thanks!

Janq, I'm not going to weigh anything and will be taking a little nap in about 5 mins (the car's not in the garage and it's raining so I don't fancy getting wet). Hope the following information is useful to you (straight out of the users manual).
Temporary spare tire (if equipped):
Size: T135/70 D17
Pressure: 420kPa (4.2kg/cm2, 60psi)
