??? For STI owners about sound system choices
I pick up my STI this week and want to know if any of the current STI owners or future owners are installing their own sound systems? I need to find out some specs like DINN or Double DINN for the existing hole in the dash.
What would be a good sites to check on the web for the head unit and speakers.
What are you installing or installed and how difficult was it.
Any Ideas?

I want to know as well, since I have been out of the audio world for about 5 years, I don't know what is hot and what isn't anymore.
How do Kef, Diamond Audio, Boston Acustics speakers compare to some of the newer units nowadays?

I'm not sure what kinda specs you are actually looking for, but as for opening size, its the same as the WRX. You can either go with a double DIN or single DIN unit. Personally, i'm going with a single DIN Alpine with Diamond Audio 5.25 components. The wire harness adapter is the same as the WRX, same for the speaker openings. Once I start, i'll have plenty of pictures. Should be in the next couple days.

Guys, I could go on and on in this subject area because I've been researching it solid for about a month and have visited many car audi shops too. However, I have no time to say anything at the moment but I will be back tomorrow night to ansew questions and provide advice, etc.

Stereos for STI
I just put an Alpine 7997 in the dash where the junk holder was with Boston Acoustic 5" components in the front and Boston acoustics 5" coaxials in the back. Had to make a board in the trunk for an Alpine V12 60x4 and Alpine T220 to drive the JL Audio boxed sub. All fit just fine, but had to make 1/2" spacers for the speakers in the front doors to clear the windows. Rear speakers fit just fine!
Sounds good!
