take you to my dealer.
if you'd like to post this, it'll be fine by me...
EVERY new car we get, salesmen/women go to a specified locale, and
attend a
'Ride and Drive'...different for each vehicle. this is part of our
learning
process toward certification. the WRX R&D was in Phoenix, once for the
National Dealer Meeting, and then for the actual R&D. i've been told by
those who matter to us that YES, there will FIRST be a class day, in
which
YOU MUST PASS A TEST TO BE ABLE TO TAKE PART IN THE DRIVING SECTION THE
NEXT
DAY!!! this is not a load of bull..whoever mentioned there is a bunch
of us
that are used to driving 130hp(actually 142, 165, 212, AND of course
227hps), but NOT 300hp nailed it on the head. not very many people in
the
public have ever driven a car that performs like the STi does. keep in
mind,
the F-body 5.7l V8s are over 300hp...but they sure as heck can't
perform
like an STi....there will be TWO STi events...west and east(west in
phoenix
in june). it is NOT true that salesmen/women can NOT sell these cars
without
the training...the true question would be then, "Would YOU want to have
a
sales person that doesn't know the car inside and out, and respect it
for
what it is???"...if you don't care, i'm sure there's gotta be a former
Hyundai salesperson that lucked out with a gig at a Porsche dealer
somewhere...heck, maybe he'll even throw in a 100,000mile warranty;-)
i
personally, am looking forward to the R&D to learn more. let's face it,
after selling WRXs for the last couple years, and subies for the last
6,
i've learned how to drive well above the average, but even I need to
humbled
every once in a while...what better way and what better car to do the
deed...if y'all want to spread a rumor for the sake of it, start tellin
everyone that you heard Peter Solberg will be a Guest Trainer at these
events....no, it's not true, but let's see how the operator game plays
this
one...he he he...evil evil..

Holy crap!! I just heard that Alistar McRae and David Higgins will be training Hyundai dealership owners and investors how to drive the STi!! And guess what? They hafta take a 3 page written exam or they won't be able to buy one from a Subaru dealership!!
(how was that?)
Were the 95-96 2.2L engines 142hp or 130something? That's what I was using as reference.. I should have mentioned 165.. since that's the relative Subaru baseline these days.
