Car Info: Soon to be '03 WRX
I went to a dealer on Sat. to drive one of the 2003 WRX and we started talking about the new STi's comin out and he told me that Subaru says that all salesman who want to sell the new STi's their dealers must fly them out to Pennsylvania to a track where they along with professional drivers will take the new STi's out on a track for a day all day. Then come back the next day and take a driving test and if they dont pass the test then they will not be able to sell the new STi's. This wasnt a salesman that told me this it was the owner of the lot. He told me that there are 2 guys at his place that wants to sell them and how he hopes that they pass the test because he really wants to sell them because they are truely awsome cars. I dont know if this is the god honest truth but I figured if it was that I would warn you guys that have your deposits down that it may affect you being able to receive one. Ask your local dealers and she what they say and see if what I was told was correct.

That's interesting. More than anything (assuming it's true) they probably want to scare the bajeezus outa the salesmen so they can show a little respect. Nothing like being taken for a demo drive with a subaru salesman in a 300hp car who's driven 130hp subarus for as long as he can remember

SOA routinely sends sales people to what I call School. In many cases it is to learn what is new for the model year. It would not surprise me if they were inviting sales people from the dealerships to come out for a track day to show them the new STi. I would highly doubt it that the sales people would need to pass a test in order to be allowd to sell the car. They usually aren't the one driving it anyway. Either way, I'm going to have to stop by my local dealership and find out some more. Living in PA I'd be willing to bet they're going to either Pocano or Nazareth, both about a half hour drive from where I work.

This is 1 I saw @ our AGM in Ireland yesterday
Is the STi lowered in this shot? Seems to have less wheel well gap than the pics from the auto shows. I hope it's not an optical illusion. I like how this car sits.

I talked to the people at my dealership and these guys aren't full of crap. They are doing a track day to show the cars potential to the sales consultants. For my region it will be held at Mid-Ohio, for other sales regions I can't tell you. Other than that there is no test or anything like that.

My dealer told me the same. Although no test that he mentioned. My dealer mentioned "somewhere in PA" so I am not sure of the exact location. If it is Pocono I would be willing to drive up there and take a look...any takers?
I am located in northern Virginia so it is not that far...
