Hi blue adept
I met you saturday morning last week end when i flew from Minneapolis to pick up my STI at east import.
The trip back was great ...i am extremely impressed by the car and having owned a 2002 wrx previously, I do not understand how people can compare the two ....It feels like a different car all together and remind me of a M3 motor wise ....soooo much torque
the ride is a little bit loud with the high performance tires and the thin glass but man....it is a real supercar and i love it ...
Good talking to you and keep in touch
my email address is plcvr4@yahoo.com
cheers
Philippe

Happy!!
Just got over 400 miles... its killin me to have to wait for 1K! Also keepin it below 4000 rpms is a chore...rowing through the gears all the time.
Still havent gotten a radio .. Any recommendations for those that have put in an aftermarket unit? And if you have one (radio) and didnt install yourself, where did you go?
The sound is much deeper than the base WRX and the acceleration is more linear. Seems to pull in almost any gear!
I think the gold BBS wheel are hot. Much better in real life then in the brochure pictures. I havent seen any other STi's on the road (Im in VA also) but I have gotten tons of positive coments from every other person saying they have an STI on "order".
My wife says the STi sounds and drives like a jet (usually drives Volvo XC V70) ...
Overall the STI was WELL worth trading in my WRX for...

Someone should get all the VA & MD STi owners together for a weekend ride & drive to help kill off some STi 'break-in' miles while providing those less fortunate an opportunity to ride along and drool.
The ride might include a range of driving situations to show off the cars flexibility in a range of areas. The loop might start in Rockville, MD (i.e. Fitzgerald Subaru) off Rt.355 and drive a semi-circular planned route going south west down 495S VA to RT.66, then north along 66 to RT.15 Leesburg, follow RT.15 through the country into and out of Leesburg to Frederick, MD then head east along I270 East to Old Georgetown Road ending back up at Fitzgerald Subaru.
Additionally an STi 'Tech Session' might be held for Subie owners overall detailing information on the STi as well as the current WRX & Legacy.
The ride would be open to any and all Subaru owners whether they bring an STi, and SVX or a BRAT. The event would only be a ride & drive caravan style event and no road racing or rodding would be involved.
What do you guys think?
Are there any takers.... ?

I am at 600 miles on the break in and have kept the rpms around 4100 with 5 blips to 5k in the past 150miles. Slow creep to 1000 miles...
I am hoping to have it "broke" in two or so weeks. Still have the same annoyances with the interior - the passenger seat cover is zippered on and I hear the jingle of the headrest zipper on every bump. - and the map pocket in the dash sags.

Oka, I'm slamed with work right now but if either of you guys could help me out it would be great. Specifically make a new thread and copy my text from last night into it and mentione that we already have three guys willing and were looking for more Subie folks & wannabe's to sound-off so that I know this won't be a big waste of my time.
If I can get enough responses, say 15, then I'll put some plans into action.
Thanks guys!

Well I must say it looks like you all might have a good ride & drive over there on the East Coast! Is there anyone out there in the Pacific NW with an STI? I know two were sold from the local Subie dealer and I got one of them, but it seems the majority of the people posting in this thread and some of the others that I have read are far and away =(
Have fun all, drive hard! =D
