Here is the latest on the STI
Second choice is the Blue/Gold, but Im hoping for Silver. Most people seem to want the Blue combo so I might get lucky. Just hard to wait.
4 people on the list in Hawaii and they are trying to order 7 I believe. Crossing my fingers. If its a no go, Im off to look for a Vette or 350Z.

This is exactly why we have always gotten the watered-down version of Japanese hot rods... nobody here really wants to pay for all the goodies they complain aren't available here. If the choice is between a watered-down STi like they have in the UK for 30K or the one we're getting for 35K, I'll take the one we're getting and pay the rather reasonable 35K for it. At least this way we have a choice between watered-down (Evo) and not watered-down (STi), instead of being made to choose between two watered-down versions. Gotta pay to play, folks.

BTW, the Cobra goes for a *lot* more than 5K over the Mustang GT. Like, almost 10K over. So if the GT/Cobra price difference is your guidepost, seems like 34K should be a reasonable price for the STi after all. And for that matter, the UK STi is a wheezer compared to the bad boy we're getting.
hey
i agree with drover (as i usually do
) but disagree that this is final pricing or just rumor. i am pretty cloce to the dealer i am getting mine at, and he has had no word on pricing yet. none. so until we hear it from the horses mouth, i am not counting on any rumor. regardless of who said it. sales people are slime. all of them. regardless of what you think or how well you know them. take it from a salesman

I hope you are right. Cause I would never be able to afford 34K. If it comes down to it I will opt out for the Evo or the 350Z (enthusiast model).
geez, just be happy with what you do or can have. many people would kill just to have a WRX. if you are a true fan, then nothing should phase you. i've always loved this car and will continue for years to come. it's a great car and STi or not, i'll take it anyway i can get it. it's funny, most people complained "why don't we ever get the good cars". then finally it comes and now there are questions about the pricing and this and that. the point is that we finally got it here in the states, so if you want it then buy it, if not then don't. it's as simple as that.

the factory reps at my local auto show said the price is going to be $34 to $35k and subaru is only releasing 300 units per month...so good luck to anyone who can get your hands on one, it's not going to be easy...and $34 to $35k is NOT very exspensive for all the car you're going to be getting with this baby....just think, you're gonna make that guy in the M3 cry when you stomp is a** at the light for $20k less

... I don't think you'll make him cry. At least no more than when someone that has a turbo-RS or modded WRX speeds past you for less money than the STi

Having had said that, a sti with 300hp and a 2.5 and sure trac front diff will kill a m3 at least to 120 mph at which point the m3 would come by the sti verrryyyyyy slowly,.....................
AND THIS IS IF THE STI IS STILL STOCK !!! WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU ADD A UPPIPE AND TURBO BACK ?????????
TALK TO ME MANNNN........
AND FOR ALL THE PEOPLE TALKING ABOUT MODDED WRX'S BEATING A NEW STI,....LETS TALK APPLES TO APPLES, YEAH YOU GUYS WILL RULE FOR THE FIRST 3 MONTHS WHILE ALL THESE STI'S ARE STOCK BUT ONCE (WE) THEY ARE LIGHTLY MODDED,.......
....... READ MY LIPS,...F-O-R-G-E-T I-T.........NO CHANCE.....
sorry I got worked up !!

I agree, tho I give kudos to the guys who have put all the time and effort (not to mention $) into their WRXs to make them hang with the STis. Obviously once we start modding our STis they will be faster since we are starting with a more potent powerplant. Cant wait to see some of the shootouts in the mags once STis are released. STi vs 350z vs M3 vs ???. Not sure what other cars are in the class, but should be good reading.

all the way for that 3 way !
my friend got a Z
we car pool sometimes so i know what it's like..
he can really stretch out 3rd gear and the powerband is hella long.
he said he doen'st feel totally buff, but i think it's due to the smooth power curve tho.. at 200lb@1200 rpm? 3.5 V 6 NA Grrr!!
i ve read from some Z forum saying it doen'st do too well on Dyno
ppl running 220-230 rwhp stock.. but it's possibly due to heavy wheels?? but if the Stock 18 " Rays Volk racing is heavy then whats not?
Vs M3? he can prolly pay me to get a win from me..
lol!!
Its been a hard decision to get the STi over the Z. Probably changed my mind due to the rarer feeling of driving the STi, atleast for awhile. And its different. When the Z first came out I was ordering an IS-300, but the lack of power changed my mind quickly. Nice *** car tho. I would get it if I wasnt moving to Hawaii and wanted a nice luxurious car to drive around the US.
I was still flip flopping between Z and STi until about a week ago when I finally just put the deposit on the STi. THink I made the right decision and with a baby coming I think the 4 doors is the right move. Also heard the Z isnt all that great in reality. Numbers sounded good and all, but hearing them and test driving them didnt give me instant wood.
