On memorial day monday, i had received a call indicating that the Sti had arrived and was for sale. As i took my entire lunch hour off to go see the car, they had one blue car left with gold rims. I was told it was selling for MSRP and 2 weeks prior to that there was a list of 10 people with deposits. But they were very willing to sell this blue car to me now. So i returned to the dealership after work at about 5:30 and was ready and willing to trade my 15 sec RSX type S for the beautiful gift that is the STi. But apparently it had been sold about an hour ago. I wasnt too upset untill he told me that he wont be getting in anymore until next year and that currently the country only had 1200. At this point i figure hes str8 b/s'ing me because he then pointed out 3 black STi's still there ready to be sold along with a silver one. (the silver one sold 5 min later) By the way, the black looks very weird in color, and when it is a little dusty, it looks dustier than it is with all those browninsh crystals in the paint. Anyway, after leaving while he tended to another customer, he called my home about a half an hour later and said he (magically) had a blue one with a stereo installed in it for $37,000.00. I told him to forget it and questioned him about his msrp promise he had given me. Well his promise had now changed and he wanted to sell this to me which out the door would probably be around 40 g's. I turned him down and asked him to call me when he gets a blue one in for MSRP without anything extra. He said that would not happen because of the high demand and that i was missing out big time. I was pretty pissed but atleast i didnt get ripped.
Probably the most odd detail of this random story is that he was telling earlier in the day that someone had just bought the blue car and was gettin a stereo installed the same day. i have a feeling he was trying to sell it to me for more after he had already promised somebody else the car to make a little extra cash for himself or something. I'm not sure but can anyone tell me if there are any real FACTS as far as the info he's telling me? Am i doomed to pay for a stereo and 4 thousand over MSRP just to get the car of my dreams?
Any input about this subject/story would be much appreciated.

You are in California.
You had a verbal contract which is binding in California.
If he promised to sell you one for MSRP, his statement below constitutes contractual fraud:
"I turned him down and asked him to call me when he gets a blue one in for MSRP without anything extra. He said that would not happen because of the high demand and that i was missing out big time."
First talk to the general sales manager or better yet, the owner. If you still don't get satisfaction, get a lawyer.
