Automobile: WRX STi battles Evo
it is also only the 2.0L engine w/twin-scroll turbo. both have similar engine set-ups, however, very different as far as internal and block designs. it i'm not mistaken, the S202 was rated at 320 hp with a finely tuned suspension set-up. it would be cool to get my hands on one of these engines.

i c... but the point is the STI from japan and the STi for america all originated from japanese domestic manufacturing technology and have the same kick *** genetics.
true, very true. that's the reason why i want to find out how effective the twin-scroll turbo set-up is as compared to the 2.5L engine here in the U.S. knowing that the twin-scroll still maintains the 2.0L heritage. i'm not quite sure why they do it. i do know that the evolution series engines utilized the twin-scroll turbo set-up for years now, and this is the first year that subaru has used this technology. it makes me wonder, why the sudden change. i do know that the twin-scroll helps in quicker spool-up which causes better low-range torque, but this incorporated with the AVCS, this would be some mad power down low. i don't know, it puzzles me sometimes.

I think this statment is a load of ****. Look at the numbers.
Sense when is "buffing the car of its many rough edges" a con?
So the Sti doesn't have a cheech and chong steering wheel, and it's not running at a-turbo-life-of-six-months 19 psi. But, this makes the Evo "feel faster." Even thou the Sti has a quiet, steady engine, The sling shot effect ought to do nicley when the Evo is on the edge of braking lose on a tight corner. This car is nearly tweeked out in the turbo department. The STi has leaps and bounds of power above it's perfect 14.5 boost level. Have you seen the Evo's interior? It's pure ****. I forgot to tell ya'll
that "the Evo's powertrain is far feistier." The Evo lacks a front LSD and a driver controled center LSD (or purly auto). This comparison is just a simple case of people favoring the underdog.
I hope someone in the Oklahoma City area drives their Evo alot,
that way it won't take me long to run the **** out of their car until only a little blue dot appears then slow down, and I'll be damned if I won't do it again! Bottom line is, buy what you want
but in America, Sti's will always rule over Evo's.

Picking a "winner" in the review was pointless. The STI won the majority of categories tested based on pricing "independent". Only when the price was factored did the EVO get listed as "1st". This is no even close to reality ..from what I hear EVO's are going for at least $5K over list!! That's way more than the STI pricing I got.
Note: The magazine did the same stupid thing and reviewed the M5, RS6 and E55 the same way.. and gave the "1st" to the E55 on price!! citing the RS6 as too expensive ($85K+) while the E55 as a bargain around $75K. Sh*t. The last I looked, you can't even get your hands on the intial allotment of E55's for under $90K!!

I got my EVO under MSRP. depends on where you go but there are plenty of dealers selling under MSRP.
Ohhh and the STI will be price gouged as well. It happens on every new car. There are always those dealers that are willing to screw the first few people that must have the first on the block. It happened on the S2000, 350z, EVO and it will happen for the STi.

Be careful about a testdrive. I walked in and bought one the next day. I've heard many other stories just like this at evolutionm.net.
FUBAR-
I think that we have yet to determine which will be more reliable. This is Mitsu's flagship and it's built in Japan. This isn't just a rebadged Eclipse.

I agree, these magazine articles that keep choosing the Evo over the STi are troubling. I'm an '02 WR Blue WRX Wagon owner (love it!), and I was already pre-sold on the STi (well, OF COURSE it has to be better than the Evo, right?).
Well, I stopped by the Mitsu dealership yesterday. They had 5 Evos (1 blue, 1 red, 1 silver, 2 yellow). I sat in the blue one (w/ sunroof, mmmm). I was expecting the interior to be poopy based on some threads I've read, but honestly...it's at least as good if not better than my WRX. The shifter felt VERY tight with short throws, there was more rear seat legroom (and plastic seat backs to protect against my kids dirty feet, yay!...black cloth drives me nuts on my WRX). And those Recaro's...my God, the fit is incredible. I've never sat in a better feeling seat. Radio looks like crap though (but at least it gets one).
In short, the Evo was plain friggin' awesome. I didn't think I would like it as much as I did. I loved everything about it, and would take it over my WRX Wagon. I can't say I would take it over an STi yet, though, because I have yet to see an STi in person. I'm still waiting for the STi to sit/feel/drive before I make my decision.
The Mitsu salesman said they were willing to work under MSRP, and I had to force myself to not drive it and not discuss price (he was trying hard). I know I would have been happy with the Evo if I bought it (assuming it drove well, which everybody seems to rave about), but I just don't want to risk kicking myself when the STi comes out in a month and I find I like it better.
Aaarrggghh, the wait...

HERE I COME BIG BROTHER OF THE WRX!!! =)
ALSO... wat i love. subaru WRX's genetics.. horizontally opposed 4 cylinder boxer motor. the better species =) its designed that way for one reason and that is to keep low to the ground, superior center of gravity, superior handling. safest CAR to drive in my opinion. itll keep u alive in the most desperate of time fellow racers. trust me it unlike the 4cylinders in honda's and mistubishi's

that's the evolution for ya! nothing close to those other mitsubishi's like the eclipse's and talon's. this car is engineered to perfection. mitsubishi put a lot of time and effort into making this car, which is why if i had the choice over again, i'd buy the evolution. however, don't get me wrong, the STi's and WRX's are also very good cars and can compete with some of the best in their class. i still love my WRX.

yes its a marketing tool to tell the facts to potential car customers... and its the law of physics.. we live on planet earth.. and i doubt the EVO out handles the STi.. whered u hear that?? the EVO can out handle the WRX.. but thats picking on the little brother. when big brother STi comes EVO is gona get an bu tt kicking. =)
u noticed... those ford Explorers or watever SUV tip over easier than low riders... that the simple law of physics. if u taken physics class. youd understand that the STi' better center of gravity meaning it sticks to the ground better than an engine placed higher up..weight+speed=momentum blah blah cant remember the equations but he point is law of physics are the most important factors in making a race car.just wait and see u will ssee the STi take number 1 in the rally races. i can bet on that =)

the STi is SUBARU's Flagship, manufactured in JAPAN and modified in the united states or whatever.. the STi is japanese also =), its not a rebadged 2.5RS sedan,
yes... i know sum people feel regret for buying the EVO8 and later finding out the STi is better or slowy realizing it... hehe
this is wat i think. and i think its the facts:
WRX outperforms mistubishi lancer
EVO8 outperforms WRX
STi outperforms EVO8
=) subaru is always on top of the game jus accept it and appreciate ur evo while still facing the facts that the STi is the ownage of AWD =)

They're posted at evolutionm.net and around here as well. Have fun reading. The C&D and R&T are both direct comparisons. The MT has a review of the STi and compare it's numbers with the EVO they had a few months ago. I'm surprized you haven't read any of the threads here.
