Woofer vibrating the trunk open!?!
Hey all...so I have a few questions concering aftermarket stereos in 2002 WRX's:
I have a nice Pioneer deck with an ELU Organic display and a nice amp/subwoofer setup. I used to have it all installed in my old car, which was a big open-cabin SUV. Well, back when I bought my 2002 WRX brand new, I thought, hey, I'll go get this system installed in my WRX now...well, two problems came from that:
1) With the sub amp's power and the kick of my 10" woofer, it sounded/felt like I was going to vibrate the trunk of my WRX until it threw open the trunk by itself...that would suck! Yup, that prolly won't actually happen, but it's tacky as ever to have your car sound like a vibrator rolling down the road.
What have you guys found to be best way to put a sub in the trunk and not deal with these loud/stupid vibrations? Do you just have to dyno-mat the entire trunk?
2) I bought my WRX with the upgraded speaker/stereo option...yeah yeah, I know. LOL Anyway, the problem is, when I tried to use my aftermarket system, the sub I installed worked as expected, but the speakers in the doors were firing at half the volume they were when they were hooked up to the stock system!! :huh: :huh: One person told me that he supposed that Subaru's stock system is bi-amped, requiring a boost from that tiny 8" subwoofer/amp under the driver's seat to make those in-door speakers sound good. Now, I know they're not the greatest speakers in the world, but do they REALLY need an external amp to sound/perform like most stock speakers would from the get-go?
So, in short, do any of you have any suggestions on how to get the stock speakers firing at regular levels without using that stupid Suabru under seat 8" sub/amp and also how to not vibrate the heck out the trunk when a woofer is back there? Thanks in advance.

dynamat for sure
simple enough, but I was trying to avoid buying new speakers, I mean, the Pioneer deck made the stock speakers in my old car sing like birds...yeah yeah, to an audiophile (wait, I am usually an audiophile), to a CAR audiophile, the stock speakers would always suck, but the tweeters are there, and all of them are already installed...I wish I could just use em, ya know?
