It's strange that it just started happening, considering you have had it for 7 months with no problems. I'm assuming you have an amp and subs hooked up in the back (or even an amp for the fronts)? That sound is usually an indication of the power wire for the amp being ran too close to the RCA's, which produces the noise you're talking about. I'd check to make sure that your RCS's didn't come in contact with the power wire at some point (probably near the amp). And make sure that the amp and power wires are wired on seperate sides of the car (I'd assume they already are considering this just started happening). Good luck!

usually alternator whines are caused by bad grounds.

i lucked out. i installed my STi system and it was quiet.

worse case scenario, go buy a ground loop isolator.

i spent months chasing down a whine in my toyota truck. finally gave it and got and iso and fixed everything...

I havent messed with car audio in a long time but if the noise changes pitch with your RPM's I would also think it is a faulty ground on an amp or something. I had this problem in my 300Z and after I shortend and remounted the ground wire on my amp the noise was gone.

Either a wire came loose or frayed somewhere....

also, if you've changed anything else on the car recently that has anything to do with electrical power in the car (aftermarket engine parts, lighting parts, anything) you might have inadvertently created a ground loop.
