Whining noise after wheel change

I have a 07 sti. Stock suspension. I just recently put on 18x9 +30 rota svn with 10mm spacers in the front. Now im fairly new with subarus or awd cars in general. I bought 2 used and 2 new nexen n3000. New ones in the front. The new ones are like 11/32 thread and the old ones are at 8/32. Now when i drive the car has a whining noise. Sounds like coming from the rear. The used tires are cupping too. Would this be road noise or something else? The tire size are 225/40/18. Any info will be appriciated. Thanks.

ADMIN: pls move. Sorry wrong section.

Did you try rotating the tires to see if the sound moves to the front?
10mm spacers are big. Your wheel bearings will hate you for that. Do you need to run spacers because of an incorrect offset? Or just want to be flush. Either way Subaru+wheel spacers=bad wheel bearings.
Good luck

Yeah tried rotating. Need spacers because the rim design on the svns are hitting the brembos with 5mm. Ill eventually go down to 8mm.

you could have wore your diffs out. that tread difference is too big.

The noise is likely from the cupping. That being said, take those spacers off ASAP. The +30 offset on those wheels is already too low for a Subaru, you're only making it worse with them on.

Also, be aware that Subarus stated tolerance for wheel circumference difference is 1/4". That means all tires should vary no more than 2/32" in tread. You're right on that edge.

my money would be one the tires. or because of the spacers. And not because spacers are bad but because I hope you are running extended lugs. Spacers arent dangerous if used properly. You wont get the lugs seated and tightened enough with 10mm spacers. The max I would run without extended studs is 3-5mm spacer.

I got cheap tires once and they were whining like a ****, even louder than bad bearings.
