What speakers size actually fits the WRX
those waiting some good speakers with shallow(er) mounting depth ought to check out the new Focal 165V slim with Neodymium mags.

I have the regular 165Vs in my S2000 and I LOVE them.

I just installed Eclipse 5 1/4" 2-ways in the front and Kenwood 5 1/4" 2-ways in the back...The Kenwoods were fairly inexpensive and don't sound too bad...They fit fine, but the tweeter assemblies are touching the door panel. The eclipses are great, too, but when I close the door with the window down, I can hear the window hit the magnet, so I installed some foam rubber on the back of the magnet...Now everything is peachy, and I have a decent sounding system!
Definately go with the Eclispses...They sound great

Regarding the Kenwood speakers, I have the same ones, just with the 3-way setup (including the SuperTweeters). These hit the plastic mesh on the lower rear door panels, but I found that it did NOT interfere with any of the bass sound coming from the car.
They sound terrific, I have Kenwood 3-ways in all 4 of my factory slots (I left the stock tweeters alone), and am planning on getting some type of 10" sub to fill in the bass frequencies.
I could use some help here though:
What would you guys reccomend for a guy who just likes rock music and wants to fill out his bass sound? I've heard people talk about the 10" Bass Tube (that looks like a NOS can) and also the Infinity BassLink thing 10" with 10" passive radiator.
Any suggestions/comments? I'm not looking to spend a bundle, or "rock the car next to me". I just want better sound than the 6.5's and 5.25's give me.

do not get that bass tube thing that looks like a nos can, why you may ask, it is just chesey, it is also not that powerful. get to 10 inch jl w0 bridge the amp, and run that lead to the two subs in parallel. 300 watt amp is all you need and run it in mono, with the crossover slop at like a hundred to 120 depending on the type of music if you turn the crossover any higher it starts tblend with higher more constant frequencys, an it sounds like ****.
If you want components that sound good and handle crazy amounts of power with ease you should really look at the Boston Pro Series or the Z's. The Z are quite pricey right now but both handle up to 400w and I know for a fact the Pros handle 200w constantly without even flinching. Another advantage to the Bostons is they are very efficient for components that handle that much power. Bostons are well known for their power handling and their smooth sound.
The a/d/s are good too but their components are nothing like they used to be.....and therefore I wouldn't recommend them. A lot of people also like the Focals but it is true that they have a distinct sound (one which i'm not too fond of).
You may also want to consider Mbquarts. A ton of people swear by them but I think their sound can be fatiguing at moderate levels and higher (a little too bright).
I should have 6.5" Zs in the front and 5.25" Pros in the rear of my month old STI shortly.
