Top Dashmount Head Unit Bezel...Need to buy.
HI everyone,
So, I finally had my stereo installed...Nakamichi Head Unit, MB Quarts, Alpine Amp...then the wife gets an SUV with a DVD in it...now the kids want a DVD in dads car...nuts~
After much consideration, I will be going with a 7" screen behind where the stock stereo goes, a flip-down monitor for the rear seaters, and will need to mount a DVD/CDR/W/MP3 player up where the Gauge Pod Housing would go...The Nakamichi will have to go bye-bye.
I thought about the in-dash flip-out screens but decided against it due to the AC Vents located right behind where screen would be...In Hawaii, the condensation build-up would not be too good...
I need help locating a source to purchase the Gauge Pod/Mounting Bezel that replaces the stock LED Clock...if anyone has a cheap source, please let me know.
Thanks in advance,
Brent

i believe that the housing your looking for is the stock guage pod housing that is available w/ the WRX. its an item that can be bought at a dealer. try looking through the For Sale forum to see if anyone is selling them.
I would check this out here:

I would think that this would be cheaper than a dealer price

anyone stick one of those alpine 7897's in. The oversized flip face style. I heard you had to dremel something out but I don't know what? I'd hate to screw up a $70 part.
I also want to know about whether or not the Alpines fit because my best friend is an Alpine authorized dealer and I can get everything at cost and wanted to go w/ an Alpine DVD reciever w/ a 7" LCD in the old location.

Alpine, Sony, Pioneer, Kenwood, Panasonic, Clairon, Pyle, Power Acoustik, Audiobahn, Audiovoxx, Delco, Directed, etc... will all fit if they are a single din size head unit .. the only thing to watch out for is their depth .. just measure from the front of the guage housing to the back and check the specs of the HU that you want .. just be sure to allow some room for wires and RCA's
