It depends a 10 will give you tighter hittting, and better sound Quality. A 12 is going to be louder normally, and produce more spl because it can move more air. 12 can still give you pretty good SQ if you use a sealed enclosure.

You know it all depends on how much you want to spend. If you dont want to take up much space they have alot of quality 10" subwoofers im sure you'd be happy with. 10" or 12" if you buy something quality im sure you will be happy. The big advantage to two subwoofers is you have a little more decibles behind you and it basically is just louder. Since it seems your looking for more bass with practicality of keeping your trunk id recommed getting a quality 10 and put it in a sealed enclosure. Check out www.acaraudio.com

Keep in mind the bigger the cone the deeper it can go (usually). I can't stand it when you can tell the speaker is bottoming out before the end of the audible range.

the Momo's are really nice, we have done alot of installs with them and they sound great. I think you will be pleased. Just a note if you spend more than $199 at Crutchfield.com shipping is free. Sorry about the plug, but they pay my bills

Does anyone build a custom sub eclosure for the WRX? I have seen a custom sub that mounts inside the car between the center console (between the front seats) and the rear bench. From my memory it housed an 8" sub. I tried a 10" JL in the trunk but I could never get the bass I wanted with out rattling my trunk or having to had massive weight with DynoMat. I have the upgraded speaker set with the little sub under the seat and although it adds some bump, i'm looking for more of a thump.

Happy holidays to all.

I put a single 12'' an a 500wrms mono amplifier and the only problem I have is the noise in the trunk for the deep bass and plus the spoiler vibration.

In general this tends to be correct, especially if you're talking about mid to low end subs. 10s are usually tight, and 12s go a little deeper. Better sound quality.....that just depends.

If you're looking to run just one sub, I'd probably have to recommend a high quality 12" sub, with quick response, in a sealed enclosure (xtant & eclipse come to mind). From my experience this tends to yield the best of most worlds But don't forget, the music you listen to most is what should determine your audio setup.

A good amp also makes a HUGE difference in the performance of a sub. A crappy amp will make the best subs sound like.....crap. Your amp needs to provide a clean, strong signal for your sub, while also having the right amount of power. And when we talk about power we mean real world power (not a 1000w amp that cost 200 bucks )

But...like any other speaker, you'd be happiest by listening to as many as possible (in your car if you have an amp ready) before making your decision.

Good luck!!
