sub choices
independant(sp?) test put 30,000 watts to a W7(i forget the size, probably big). the sub didnt show any signs of distortion till like 15,000 watts, and only then it was physical distortion, not sound distortion. the sub didnt blow.

I don't know about you, but I ain't got 15,000 watts to throw at a W7... Just another testament to the quality and ruggedness of these works of art!

those w7's are incredible, but for less than a third of the price i can get infinity perfect 10's, which arent as badass, but since im only going to be running them with 200-250 watts, they are the big winners.
damn, 15000 watts, my ears bleed just thinking about that...

I have two infinity Perfect 10" bad boys in a sealed Qlogic box sitting happily in the back of my 98 OBS. I must say, they slam like a ****, and, to spare my hearing, I cant even turn up the punch bass on my RF power mono amp.
I love how they sound. They produce really dynamic bass. I'd be interested to hear one of them W7's with only 250-300W pushin it... I bet it would still sound awesome- All JL subs are relatively efficient.
...I guess I'm happy w/ my Perfects also.

Look for a super deal on Sony 10" subs or similar for like 2 for $100.
I just love the range of two tens.
I always blow up my equipment... evenventually... always just after waranty expires. So I prefer to buy the less expensive equipment and not worry about blowing them up. I don't make the commitment to car audio like home audio - the car stuff is mostly disposable after 3-5 years.
The most important thing is to match the RMS powers for the Amp and sub. Over powering or underpowering the sub amp combo both do equal damage.
Unless you are into car audio competition, consider yourself an audiophyle or afraid your friends will laugh at you - that's a different story.

I'd go with JL. Their subs are incredible. You don't have to go with the top of the line 10W7. They make other models. I have a single 10W6 in a glass enclosure and it rocks pretty good. You could even go with a 10W3 for all you want/need. Another nice thing about JL, the don't require a huge amount of power to work efficiently. You won't be disappointed.
