Drop-in filter choices? Is there a best?

Ok, I know I do not want a full intake system just a simple drop in filter.
HOWEVER, there are SO many different choices I was looking for some feedback on what y'all thought.
K&N, Green, Perrin Foam... etc...
K&N of course is a standard name in the industry, Green is something I was told about over the weekend while at a car show, and I heard Perrin makes a foam filter...
Like I said, lots of choices out there... just looking for some feedback as the best route to go.
Thanks!

ive heard some bad stuff about foam filters.
nothing from anyone that really matters though, just the peanut gallery pipeing in.
on the other hand ive never heard anything bad about a k+n, unless you over oil it and coat your MAF sensor in filter oil, but that would be your own fault.
I still have the stock paper filter because i dont expect that big of a gain from switching. When its time to replace it ill be going to a k+n though.
Thats what i've heard

I just ordered the Perrin filter and put it in alittle bit ago. Damn, they sure do oil it alot! It came in a plastic bag and it was just loaded with that sticky oil. I tried to wipe off as much extra oil as I could. I went out for a test drive and the car seemed to jolt a lot during acceleration. Not sure if the ECU just hasn't had time to relearn everything since I reset it. I'll drive around a lot tomorrow and see how she runs and get back to you!

I have a K&N, seems to work fine. My butt dyno didn't notice much difference, but I can hear my turbo spool up much better. Made the stock recirculationg valve sound louder too.
There was a thread once comparing K&N with Green filters, pretty good info/pictures. Info dealing with how the things are folded too, Green is closer to the stock filter going horizontally, whilst K&N goes vertically. Not sure if that would matter, do a search.
