stock subwoofer info please? anyone?
I have a bugeye '02. I got rid of my subs because i have a new baby and want to be considerate. I was curious if you guys have ever heard the sound quality of the stock underseat subwoofer. I'm thinking it wont be very loud but that is exactly what i want. I'm simply trying to get a bit more LFE depth to the sound coming from the mids in the car. So questions are as follows
your opinion on the sound quality?
will the sub work with an aftermarket deck?
should my 02 already have wiring for the sub?
anybody selling one and how much?
What... is the air-speed velocity of an unladen swallow?

your opinion on the sound quality?
-Not spectacular, provides some bass fill but hardly ground-pounding. It's a small speaker and enclosure. It is NOT worth the money that Subaru charges for it new, but they can be had used for a lot less.
will the sub work with an aftermarket deck?
-Yes, if you connect the speaker outputs. The sub is speaker-level and driven from the rear speakers lines. If you only connect the preamp outputs from an aftermarket deck the sub won't get any signal. I have mine working with an Alpine.
should my 02 already have wiring for the sub?
-No. The wiring harness comes with the sub. If you buy one used, be sure that the COMPLETE harness is included. Often people will either not include it or will cut one end instead of removing it properly and keeping it intact. It is rather expensive to get a replacement from Subaru.
anybody selling one and how much?
-Check the classifieds here, on NASIOC, Ebay, etc. They do turn up frequently.

Anybody have one installed which I may hear in action?
The bass fill is all I'm really looking for so it sounds good so far.
