Stereo Frozen?

Was the LCD displaying something when the key was removed from the ignition? On my 03 WRX, the stereo would not let me adjust the volume, change a track, or even eject a cd! I took it to the dealership and they said they had never seen this problem before and they scheduled a time to replace the radio.
In the meantime I diconnected the battery from the car, so that the electronics could "reset"themselves and the radio started to wark like normal again. Subaru still replaced the radio, just to be sure.
my advice would be to take it to your dealership and they should replace it under warranty.

mine did that.....for me it means that there is a cd stuck in there. Did you have an CD-R's in there?
mine got stuck and did the same thing...after messing with it for a while it wouldn't do anything cd related...not even switch to cd.
Take it to the dealership...if it's still under warranty they pretty much won't ask any questions....they will take it out...ship it out...put a new one in and in about a month send you the cd's that were inside it at the time.
From talking to the guys at SC subaru it sounded like a pretty common problem...very finicky stereo.
