Question about stock head unit...
I've got a portable .mp3 player (Archos) I want to find a way to hook into the stereo system of my 2003 Legacy. The stereo is just the basic stock unit. I know there's no Aux-in on the front of the stereo. Is there one on the back by any chance? Or do I just have to replace the stock unit if I want one with an Aux-in?
I work at a car audio store and I can help you with this. There is an adapted by SOUND GATE that allows you to plug in an auxilary source into your head unit. It allows RCA inputs. I know they make them for a bunch of cars, but I am not sure if there is one for your car. The other alternative is (this one is available for your car) is to hook up an RM modulator (alpine makes a great one) which allows RCA inputs (red + white) which you can hook up to your mp3 player. So there you go, you dont need to replace your head unit :-)
