who is running stock speakers with an aftermarket head unit??
I just wanted to see who here has an aftermarket head unit, but is still using the factory speakers..
how do the factory speakers sound with an aftermarket deck?
Does sound quality increase in the factory speakers with JUST an aftermarket head unit??
Thanks,
Zoeb

my subs are hard core overkill over my factory speakers right now and its terrible...i guess im gonna have to run an amp to a kenwood component system...atleast my birthdays comin up...hopefully i can talk to my parents about some components!

yeah that sucks!
as a rule, when anyone asks for my advice, i tell them to go in this order:
1) headunit
2) speakers (not subs)
3) amp for speakers*
4) sub/s and amp for sub/s
* this varies as some headunits put out plenty enough power to run the speakers without needing an amp
just my dos pesos though

yah, i got a kenwood component 6.5's coming in in a few hours.
will install tomorrow as today, im working on my other car to install a new alpine unit. did some rear speaker work last
night...dropped in some polkaudio's. the fronts are Q's.
im thinking about getting a small bass tube to wire up...not
sure yet though, but want to do eveything at once so that
i dont have to pull out the HU again just for the sub, if you
know wat i mean.

yah, i was thinking about doing that, but the Polks that i got for the car (98 prelude) has a lot of bass response so i think im going without a sub for now. i like to try to keep my cars as lightweight
as possible.
the install went real well..those new alpines are
pretty cool.
time to work on the kenwood speakers on my wrx today.
as possible.

hey, the kenwoods dropped right into the factory premium
sound kit spacer.
since the xover has a dial to tune the
tweeter, i put the xover in the previously useless mapholder.
i fiddled around with the controls, but with the fader set at
-1, the rear speakers's highs (factory premium kit)and the kenwood's high's mix very well... but yah, the factory sub
needs to go. not enough punch.

I called many places trying to get one with a pocket, but I ended up just going to best buy and getting the normal kind...it seems as if no one around here has the flip type kits...I had to actually end up buying a universal mounting kit...I just put my kenwood deck in last night and It made even the stock speakers sound a lot better...THE FACTORY DECK SUCKS!!!
I did like the idea of having an in-dash changer though...but I have an MP3 deck so i can have more songs then I would ever be able to put in 6 discs all in 1 disc so I am pretty happy...
