Poor radio reception on 2005 WRX

I replaced my stock 6 disk which had fine radio quality with an Alpine and ever since my radio reception is poor to none. I get some stations on the Oakland side of the tunnel and no stations on the walnut creek side of the tunnel. Any ideas?

the 05 has a powered FM antenna. If you do not plug 12v back into it when you replace with an aftermarket deck, it will not work.

is the antenna power wire in the factory radio harness or a separate wire? I am not sure if its plugged in or not. Thank you for the advise.

I do believe its in the factory harness.

look for a solid white wire coming off of the factory harness. You can tap that into the blue/white power antenna trigger or a switched 12v wire from the harness as well.

Wow. This is awesome. I hooked up a d3 in mine about two years ago and had this same problem. I never really thought about it too much because I rarely use the radio. I just tried this and fixed it. Thanks.

Any reason I would still have poor (but better) radio reception even after plugging in my 12v power for the antenna? I don't have tint and have choppy radio reception while driving.
