OEM Security system question. HELP!!
I picked up my STi this past week and the dealer threw in the security upgrade, But I had to put it in. No big deal except to when I got to mounting the Security control module. The problem I'm having is that were the directions say to mount the module is were what looks like an airbag sensor sits and if I put the module their then I cant remount the sensor. I don't know if the dealer got me the wrong part or I'm just missing something. I tried to make it work in another position but it didn't work. Any information that anyone can give me would be great. Thanks in advance.

Where is it telling you to put it? I think they changed locations in the 04's (your should be similar to a WRX, I would think) - from the center console to behind the glove box by the cruise control module. go to www.subaruparts.com - they have the manual for the 03 WRX which has one location and the 03 Forester which has the other.

The module location in my MY04 WRX is in the center console. The security module needs to be mounted at the e-brake mount, not forward of it. it looks like you can mount it at that forward location but the nub on the module won't alow it. the only other problem i can image your having is the mounting under the drivers dash. look for the wiring harness plugs that are taped up out of the way, mine were tape with white tape.

I found out today it was the wrong part. Apparently their are 2 different ones for the 04 WRX and the STi. They gave me the one for a WRX. which dose mount in the center console. Thanks for all the help from every body I really appreciate it. Now I just have to try to get the right one and then reinstall the system.

Let me know if the mounting is similar to the Forester-XT. I think it may mount the module under the dash by the glove compartment. I think it's a 2.5L turbo thing.
