Not sure which forum, but my cables wont reach

Put an Optima yellow top in but my cables were too short. What can I do?

they make different size codes of the batterys. you can take it back and get the one that is right for your car, or you can put in new power/ground wires of your own.

all the optima batteries won't fit correctly due to the terminal post placement. you have three options if you want to use it.

1.buy the forester postive cable. i think it is 2" longer. (expensive i think)

2.go to NAPA and buy a 6ga 36" power cable ($6)

3. do to a car stereo shop and buy 4ga cable and two ring terminals and make your own. (okay price)

as for me i got the stereo 4ga since i got the stuff for free from a friend.

i also read the orange top works without modification since the termials are switched and you just turn the battery backwards. but i haven't read further into that since i don't know much about the orange top. new to me. since i've only know blue, red and yellow.

You should get the 34 R (reversed mount) so you stock cables will reach.

When I installed my Red-Top I replaced the starter cable with a $5 universal 4-ga. cable from the parts store. Problem solved.

Or you can pop out the clip that holds the cable to the drivers side of the intercooler. If you trace the cable back, you will find the clip. I popped that out, and it gave me the extra two inches I needed for connecting the cable up.
