Need a very quick answer regarding a stereo from RS to WRX

Just need to know if my old head unit (double din) from my WRX will fit into my RS which also has dual din capacity. Size looks the same from what I can tell, but I need to know if the plug will be the same? Will it just plug in? Both have aftermarket JVC units, but the one in the RS is beat so I wanna swap it.

I have nothing to do tonight so I thought I'd frankenstein it before my wife has to go to work. Would have posted in the stereo forum, but need a quick answer!

should be the same. No experience with an RS, but nissan's stereos are usually all the same, thinking subaru will be same.

I did... I took out the deck from the WRX and am going to put it into the RS.

I couldn't strip out most parts from the car since the insurance owns it, but I managed to get the wheels, seats, and deck... Sadly there is a perfectly good borla hush and tein lowering springs on a totaled WRX

My '01 RS had a '03 WRX head unit in it and it worked great. Should still be the same.

It is plug and play. Just put the mounting brakets on it and plug it in. When my double din wrx stereo shorted I put a 2.5 RS dual single din unit into it (tape player and single cd). It pluged in and worked just fine, till I got a new WRX double din changer for my car.

Yeah but when you get a check from insurance they give you a check for what is on the car at the time. I have heard of people not even being able to get their subwoofers out before.

Technically the insurance company is buying your car from you. Its a pain in the *** but what can you do.
