Just for more pics:

Only slight modification required to fit the Forester pocket up top.

HAGBEARD, your HU seems to stick out a bit, but on my KENWOOD, it is sunken in a bit, it just how KENWOODS are, or did I somehow mounted it wrong?

check out my pics here.

I have the forester din, but I need to do a slight modification cause the top of the lip hits the top when it opens and closes....

AWD - yes, my HU does stick out a little bit. I could modify the bracket a little so that it would be more flush, but it doesn't stick out enough to bother me (any further, though, it probably would). It's not totally clear in your pics how far back yours is, it almost looks like it's recessed a little. I guess it depends on you more than anything if you think it's mounted incorrectly. I picked mount holes in the bracket, did a fit check, and called it a day. I honestly don't remember what options were available in the bracket for changing the mount depth. If you only want it to move half an inch or so, you might be in trouble because if you widen up the holes in the bracket it's going to slide forward and back unless you find another way to keep it in place.

As for the DIN pocket, at the front of the pocket on the bottom, there's a thin plastic lip. I cut that off. My DIN pocket would also hit the trim when I opened it, so I took the trim off and on the top section of the trim where the DIN door was making contact, I ground out the trim. There's a part of the trim that's horizontal where it's making contact, and I only ground on that part. That way it opens it up, but it's impossible to see that it has been worked on. I'm not sure if that's a good description or not. Yours might be trickier since it doesn't look like your pocket is flush-mounted, so you'd actually have to grind on a visible part of the trim (not recommended). Let me know if any (or none) of that makes any sense.

I think you are wrong, I just purchased the Forester DIN and from looking at the Legacy, it looks like it is way bigger than the Forester one!

HAGBEARD
Thanx for the reply.
All i had to do is trim teh little section above the din pocket where the din cover hit when it opened.. you CANNOT see anything, I used a dremel to cut it and then sanded it nice and smooth, cant see anything and it looks oem! I only had one modification , seems lke you had a lot. but your looks good though!
And I didnt need to cut that bottom piece on the din either.

My stereo is a little recessed because I have that little nice cover that goes around teh stereo and I woudl have to stick the radio like another inch to keep the cover so I kept it recessed a bit inside.

How does it look to you and everyone?

AWDrifter - I think we actually did the same mod up top to keep the DIN door from hitting when you open it. The bottom lip I cut off so I could flush mount the pocket - with your Kenwood recessed a little, that lip probably wasn't interfering on yours. With my Alpine sticking out a little, I had to cut it off to slide the DIN pocket back. Minor differences, yours looks great too! The nice thing with that DIN pocket is because it matches the trim, it's pretty easy to make it look like it belongs there.

HagBeard - I was going to choose the Legacy Din pocket, but I didnt like that bulge in the front too much to open it up.
Im happy with this din, but I wish it could have been a little bigger in the opening. Our forester din has those corners that take up space that I cant put my hand in all the way if I drop like change in their or whatever.

Anyways, your headunit looks nice!
My hu is a Kenwood Exceleon x915, it is about 4 years old, hehehe
It was in my 2000 civic si , nitrous and (was to be turbo'd) but it got stolen before I could put the headunit in!

damn jealous bastards who are soo poor they need to still cars!

Anywahs, got pics of your car! PM me with a link cause I dont want to rob my own thread, hehe or wait, someone elses thread that is.
