Unhappy

I have the same problem. With the pocket up top, it isn't flush. When i installed the pocket up top, none of the screw holes lined up correctly. So i went ahead and just did a temporay fix to the problem...but i am gonna just put the HU up top and pocket on the bottom. Damn that cup holder lol I will post pictures up of what my stereo installs looked liked.

All you need are the din pocket and the factory brackets from the stock HU.

Here are some of the pics with my HU out of the console to give you an idea what it looks like.

To be honest, the radio fits and looks fine. The only problem i have is that the pocket isn't really flush. If you see it in person you can see that the pocket is slightly tilted down. I can try to correct the tilt, but when you open the pocket door it get stuck when you open it. Not a really problem, but some people might think it is. I am going to switch it back to the way it was before when i install my sub box and amp this weekend. And i will post pics of the sub box once it is installed. I purchase the box from Kevin B. He is the one that is selling the Stealth enclosure on Nasico.com

dsmperformance... your setup looks soo smooth. How do you like your head unit?
I had to drill holes in my ISO mount to get my Forester pocket to fit properly. Thanks...I love everything about the HU. Its very well laid out and has tons of cool features. I'd highly recommend one to anyone looking for a new deck.

I am not a professional stereo installer....but I didn't need to hook up my new HU to the battery. All you need to do is attach the wire harness to the factory stereo plug and your good to go. The only time you would need the battery is when you put in an amp. I am not 100% sure though. Maybe someone who has more experience in car audio can shed some light no this.

Also, dsmperformance, would your 60x4 power be enough to power some aftermarket speakers decently? Just a set of 51/4 comps and 4" in the rear???
You are correct, the 9815 should be wired directly to the battery because of the large internal amp. Its not very hard, there is a special fused power wire on the harness for a direct connection to the battery.

The HU puts out a decent amount of power and is adequate for my useage. Everything sounds pretty good, but if you want peak performance out of the Diamonds, they could use an external amp for a tad bit more volume. But for the most part, i'm really satisfied with the way they sound. I have the M651 5.25" components up front and M351i 5.25" coax in the rear and a JL 10W6 in my custom glass stealth enclosure.

Do you have any more pics dsm??? Some from the sides maybe??
Yeah, its decently loud even with the windows down. Its just at very high volumes, more power will make the Diamonds sound cleaner.

This what you want...
