I just purchased a 1997 Legacy GT Limited and I hate the chirp that the alarm "speaker" makes when I lock/arm and unlock/disarm the system with the remote. It is a Subaru/manufacturer's alarm... Does anyone know how to disable the chirp so that just the lights flash, or if it is even possible? I have looked at the main system box and didn't see any kind of switch. And I have tried many little variations of holding down the remote buttons (each button for 5 sec. and both buttons for 5 sec., etc.) but nothing seems to work. And there's nothing in the owner's manual about it.

Am I doomed to put up with it?

Please help.

 

Thanks! I flipped the #5 switch to the "off" position last night and it worked. No more annoying alarm chirp.
