El radio es no bueno 02 & 05
Ok so my friend and I are having the same problem. I thought it had to do with them repairing the car and forgetting to plug in the antenna cable but there would have been no reason to take out the dash... Plus I took mine apart and the cable is plugged in but doesnt work. Nate, my buddy has a 05 and the radio isnt working for him either. He heard there is a sequence (reset) that you must put in to get the radio to work again... Anyone heard of such a thing and where should we start looking to get this working.
I called the dealership and they told me there is no sequence or combination to put into the radio. They don't do that to any subaru. The problem must be somewhere else. maybe antenna

I think you'll be allset. Most certainly because you will have yours done for free, by way of insurance or warranty. Just help me out and find out what they end up doing to make yours work so that I may beable to fix mine. Thank you

Hey I was just thinking... The 05s have their antennas in the windshield. Wasnt yours replaced? I bet my deck either they didnt get the right windshield or didnt connect the antenna correctly.
the antenna is in the rear window (not the windshield) on 04 and later (not sure about 02), and should be a soldered connection to a wire fed through a loom somewhere near the top. If you have the radio out, try a continuity check between the antenna wire at the back of the radio and the connection in the rear window. The reception kinda sucks to begin with, but would be non-existent if there is a break in the circuit somewhere. A radio is a pretty simple beast, if it's not receiving any stations, either the antenna is insufficient or you're in a place with mad interference, like a nuclear reactor, for instance. Good luck.

sorry, I don't think of the rear window (not the back seat windows) as a "windshield" because you'd have to be going pretty damned fast in reverse for it to shield any wind.
But it's way more likely that its some small connection somewhere than the actual antenna that is painted on the glass. A little bit of detective work with a continuity tester should help find the problem.

This is on my 02 I'm speaking of... it doesnt have an antenna in the windshield, either of them. Is it not a straight cable that goes from headunit out the Apillar....? or is there a connection somewhere other than that? Maybe in the the kickpanel?

I ask again. Where does the antenna seperate. I thought it connected to the back of the headunit then went out the window... Where could it be disconnected or loose
