CD player on stock HU not working

I took out the stock stereo and put it back in. Plugged back the ground, speaker wire and that bunch of wires connected to the white plug (for lack of a better word).

CD player doesn't work but everything else does. Did I miss something, or did I break something? The HU doesn't even show 6 CD's in it.

Someone on the stereo & security forums said that I should've taken out the CD's in my HU before removing it and may have caused it to jam. I've been advised to take the HU apart and manually reposition to fix.

Is this what's happened? Any other diagnosis out there?

Thanks,
Ryan

first of all.... the cd's would come out on their own... You haven't made any mistakes.
It doesn't make sense to say that they are jammed either... because it's an issue of the players internal computer not being able to read that their are cd's in their. I would make sure that all 3 plugs are plugged into it. Actually, the antenna on the right side isn't critical. It is possible that the major connector isn't fully in. It takes a pretty strong push to get it fully connected.

HeavyDan - pulled out the plug and pushed it back in as hard as I could, but I still could not get the HU to register the CDs in there.

I may just take the damn thing apart.

stupid suggestion - Have you tried holding down the eject button for 5+ seconds. it's supposed to force eject all 6. At least then you could get them out... maybe... I don't know, don't listen to me, you probably already tried this.

ryball - yeah tried that. it flashed the "CD - EJ All" thing, but nothing popped out

gdawrx - you have a stock HU lying around?

I'm going to open the HU up and reclaim my cd's and hopefully this will fix it.

gdawrx is a flamer.... don't worry about him.
Write back if you have problems opening up the HU. Make sure it doesn't look tampered.... because you can probably just put the stereo back in and get it under warranty.

dumb question...are there any fuses that I coulda blown that would prevent the CD player from working? I'm not too keen on these wiring deals.

Would this be covered under any warranty?

The cd player would be under warranty, assuming they can't tell that you tampered with it. I don't think there any fuses.... but I could be wrong. I'm not sure why there would be fuses... but who knows in these things?

So i tried taking it apart. I got as far as actually seeing my CDs. But I didnt know what to unscrew and what tape to peel off. I just sealed it back up and will give a call to subaru.

I figure I'll do the clutch shudder fix and the driver seat bolt recall as well. Now that I think about I might hold off on the clutch shudder. Did a bit of research and sounds like the bay area dealerships arent too mod friendly. I've got helix up, turbo xs stealthback...so that might suck.

But if i just go in to have my HU looked at they shouldn't be looking at anything else...will they? I figure I'll just go to Ron Price since it's the closest to me and I'm not having any under-the-hood work performed.
