Any subwoofer recommendations

I want to get some new sub/s, I really want the alpines. A friend at work has 2, 12" Type E Alpine and a power accoustic amp, WOW!!! this is LOUD!!!! I mean ridiculously loud. I just want 1 12" with a nice amp. I was looking at the Alpine Type R or the Alpine Type X. I'm leaning towards the type X. Anyone have any experience with these subs, or any others? I was also looking at the Rockford Fosgate Stage 3 Punch subs.

Check out the new Boston Acoustics G2 and G5 subs. They eat the Alpines and the Rockfords as far as output and sound way better. And after all they are in your back yard.

i've got an alpine 12" R and can only say good things about it. it's in a sealed fiberglass box about 1 cubic foot in size. it hits pretty hard when it needs to. i've head the boston subs and although they put out alot of bass they sound really muddy. another favorite of mine is the JL W6.
