I need to look into moving into another apartment soon and was wondering if you guys had any recommendations. The place I'm living at now is really bad. The walls are paper thin, neighbors complain about having the TV @ 9pm.
I'm looking in the Santa Clara, Sunnyvale, Cupertino or possibly the Milpitas area. I don't want to spend more than 1400 so any help would be cool. Thanks!
Paul

Milpitas.
I live in the Millcreek apartments. Pretty reasonable finance wise. I have a 2bd/2bath with walk in closet. kitchen. Car port. washer/dryer. Deck. It's like $1300.
Not to bad. Central location. Easy to get to 680/880/237. can get to fremont bart without hitting the freeway if you so choose. Same for the great mall.
Just take 880 to Dixon Landing. go west...away from the dump. Go into the second drive way. You'll see the office.
I'd bet that you could get in for like $1250-1300.
Deposit was $600.
Only real draw backs are that people park like idiots in the uncovered spots and the hot tub is broken a lot. Pool is generally clean...there are 2 of them. Has a bbq place you can reserve for say...suby meets. And it has a center with a pool table. 2 internet computers. printer. fax machine. pool table. ping pong. weight room. There are usually people there but I think you can reserve that too.

I've already checked out the paper, craigslist and checked the reviews of some complexes online. I was just wondering if any members liked their complex or had friends at nice ones that could recommend a few.

really...I'm curious...what did they say?
Stay away from avalon off mission. Warmsprings. They were terrible. Raised our rent so many damn times. Never fixed our carpet. My room mate found some crack under the heater in his room. We got broke into a couple times. Nearly got in a fight with some philipino kids in a crappy civic 4 door. Oh..and I'm pretty sure we had a kid die right in front of my apartment.
There are some decent finds in santa clara as well...when I was looking I found a lot. North San Jose as well.
But for reals...let me know what the review said about millcreek.
If you want...roll by my pad. I can show you the layout...real world status. Not empty. Not all pretty like the do up the show models.

I live right now @ the Avalon River Oaks. I hate this place. It's nice inside, but the walls being so damn thin and neighbors complaining about the smallest things is not worth it.
Here's the review on your place..

I appreciate the offer, but I think I'll pass on it. It's bad enough driving through Milpitas and smelling the landfill. It's another thing living next to it and having to deal with it on a daily basis.

i just moved my bro in law to "the woods" in san jose. Might be a little too far for you though.
nice place, they have different configurations from 1-3 BR with garage or not. It's just off capitol expwy by the drive ins.

the house I live in is 2br/1ba, 1 car garage, back yard, central heating & A/C. $1335 a month.
When I move out after the lease is up, I will post here to let every one know about it.
I live around the corner from Saratoga Ave. & Williams Rd. between 280 ad 85.

Hey Paul, Ray's place is nice. And his neighbors didn't complain when like 6 of us went to his apt at like 2:30am. LOL The woods is a little ghetto. The apts are decent, but the area sucks. I have a friend that used to live in a 1 bedroom there, then upgraded to a 2 bedroom.

wow thanks. If you look at the reviews, they are mostly old. Only 2 from 04. They have a mostly new staff. In general it's more likely for someone to post a bad review than a bad one. So if you take into account the 500 units and turn over...that's not that many reviews in 4 years time.
But I will say this. The trash. It sucks...all of milpitas smells like that. But I don't notice it except on the really bad summer days. but I'm also not home much.
as for theft. I have heard of one bike getting stolen. Beyond that nothing. And on my side of the complex there are a couple cars in particular that I'm surprise. Crazy sound systems bumping everytime they come in. stuff like that. But nobody has touched my car or my room mates. Course we're two of the biggest guys in the complex. I've only had my carport parked in once and they were gone in the time it took me to go inside and get a piece of paper and a pen.
Most of the complaints were interesting.
But since then the whole place has been painted. The staff has been changed. Etc.
It's not that bad. I'd recommend it..obviously. And I'm a picky bastard. Oh..and bugs. I've never seen a misquito there. I've never seen a roach. And I've never had an ant in my house...and there have been cookies and chocolate sitting out since christmas.
I've never had a noise complaint and I've had two parties there. One was out of control.
Every once in a while the upstairs folks **** me off. They have kids that just love to bang on stuff and you can hear water run and stuff like that. But it's a million times better than the last place I lived..shoot the last 3 places.
Let me know where you end up and how much it is. My lease is up in July and I expect a rent increase that I won't pay. I pay enough. I signed a new lease a few months ago and exepted an increase. I'd like a house next time.
Yeah...so let me know what you find.
