Ok this happened about a month back... I usually have my stereo at level 20, and one day the digital volume display started going up and down for no reason. but it only did it for a few seconds. I thought I was trippin and seeing things so I got over it. the other day it does again.. and for more than a few seconds this time.
I have an 05 WRX... has anyone else experienced this. It's not a big deal, but kind of weird for it to happen on a pretty new car.

I had the radio replaced and said goodbye to the ghost.

Did you get an aftermarket unit, or did the dealer replace it with an OEM?
The encoder for the volume **** on the OEM unit can get caught between two 'poles'. The noise on the encoder causes it to creep. Typically, it will creep in one direction until you move the ****. Turning the **** down to off and then back up usually fixes it. I have had it happen maybe 5 or 6 times since my '02 was new.
I suspect this is present in all of the OEM units. Getting an aftermarket would be a solution, but I don't think that it is enough of a problem to justify a new stereo.
Its just a bit... strange....
