its all good jeff, You have a breaker bar and some wood so we can split the axle/transmission?

I'm bringing grease, socket for the axle and rust off since I can't find my axle press.

i'm sure the axle is good but i need to open up the outboard boot to see if it's what i think it is (axle prolly just popped out from the joint; hoping the snap ring is still intact). i just need to pick up some brake cleaner and will tear it down when i get home from work.

Just replace it, when an axle becomes exposed then re-closed, the failure rate is in-fact higher. I'm bringing replacement axles with me.

We shouldn't use an impact to remove the axle nut because it can ruin the drivetrain, we'll do it with a break bar.

the axle is separated within the outboard boot... it's not connected to the drivetrain. when you break it with a bar its just gonna be extra effort.

my statement regarding the use of an impact is to be taken as a generalization should the drive shafts be actually fully intact, not separated at the joints like how Lawson's passenger side was.

When we removed the driver side which was intact, use of an impact CAN damage the gears of the differential.

So after last nights run. I have come to the conclusion that we can only use some of the track options, not all to keep it a level playing field.

If we use boost HIGH, damage low, I suggest allowing Traction Control, this will keep the pack tight together and expect lots of position changes

If we do not use boost, damage high I suggest allowing the other aids like skid recovery, asm, active steering. There will be less position changes and you will have to work hard to catch up and since you will have computer assisted control of the car, crashing will be at a minimum due to the driving aids.

Let me know on your thoughts regarding this

Also I'll be missing round 1
