Question So Cal EGT Install Price?

Is it worth to take it in, I think I could do it, but I would rather leave the drilling and tapping of a manifold to a Pro......

Any leads on where to take it, and a price estimate

I've seen Steve@Subyspecialties install one, and it's alot of work. If you know how to tap the pipe correctly and make sure it's threaded it perfectly without any holes, and are mechanically inclined, you can do it but you probably need a lift. However, after seeing the work that Steve went through, I'd rather pay someone. I am not sure how much he charges.

Most certified shops will charge $65 and hour. I'd roughly say its a 1-2 hour job for someone to install an EGT. They have to drill and tap a large hole in your manifold, I've seen them weld it as well. Then running the lines to the gauge.

You can do that too if you feel 100% confident. I would also drop the header off and shake/blow out the shavings though.

The only thing I would get worried about installing an EGT is if there is a leak at the threadings. If you feel confident and believe you can get past it, more power to you.

but isnt the shavings so small it will burn up and pass through on the first run?

i think the probe will be pretty flush and its the exhaust not the up pipe, it shouldnt have any problems right?

ill make sure the probe is not straight, its flush, there is a ceramic washer, and ill put a high temp sealent on it, should be good right?

See its that part that scares me. There is so many variables in this what if what if. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying "no you can't do this you have to take it to a shop." I'm just looking out bro.

A couple of bolts, make sure you have new gaskets.
