OOOO i got drunk driver story, .... here goes, April 7, 2003: I was at my girlfriends dorm in Santa Barbara, well as many of you guys know, UCSB is known for their partying, but on this particular night there was no parties, and it was only monday 6:00pm. Well, i was uhm *cough* in my girlfirends dorm, just about to (well you know), and i hear my alarm go off. From the 6th story, luckily i can see my car from that window. So i pull on my pants, and shirt run and the f*ck outside, and all the people outside said they saw a mexican running. To my amazament, he hit five cars. In order, Civic, geo prizm, audi, truck, and me. He managed to side swip the civic and prizm, crush the two doors in on the audi and push in the front axle, and finally drive over the hood and into th back of the truck, and the truck being lifted and all runs right into my sooby full on moving my car 5 feet forward. Now he was so drunk he ran home, and chp caught him at his house 3 hours later. Now the result, insurance bought me a new sooby, and he is paying restituion of 30,000 dollars for the rest of his life to me in payments, so about every month i recieve 3000 dollars free to me, and for me to mod my sooby. =)

I don't get it. You weren't in the car. How is he having to pay you $30k in restitution. I can understand for the value of the car, but what would bring it up to $30k? Were there any valuables in there that got damaged (jewelry, laptop, etc)?

Ok....that makes more sense. You're lucky you're getting reimbursed by both insurance and the guy. In my case, the guy only has to pay me what the insurance won't cover.

i guess you kinda lucked out.

Does anybody know the WORST that can happen to you when you have to go to traffic court? I got caught for excessive speeding on the 210 fwy and I can't pay the fine up front or even go to traffic school. I don't even know how much the ticket costs because the part where it says fine amount says APPEARANCE MANDATORY.

Neaners: did you get caught by the speed trap near the Sepulveda exit/ 5 fwy on the 118?? I see highway patrol cops stopped hiding behind the bushes there all the time.

I just learned the hard way, don't get caught speeding over a hundred. bad news bears...

I look EVERY day and I have yet to see where those bastards hide... you never see them until they are pulling you over!! grrr
At least at night coming towards the valley... I used to commute that from the valley to burbank and back every day. The 118 towards the 5 was an autobahn most days in the morning, coming home was a different matter. I got lucky several times then was nailed for 85 in 65 right by Desoto (he was hiding on a onramp, and I was passing some idiot). The 5N betwen the 134 and 118 can also be pretty nasty at times (copwise).

For me though, not beats the 101 through Agoura/Westlake/Newbury Park. All is good until Kanan and it winds up being speed trap city. Got about a half dozen tickets in that stretch over the years.

Wow, that's too much $$ for such a minor violation, Captain Trash. Thanks for the information but...
I just went to court and I came out with $150 plus 2 points on my record. I got caught around Rancho Cucamonga, maybe that's why the fine was lower (people cant afford the high fines) When I was at court over 50% of the people were DUI and all fines were in the $100+ range.
