Question performance parts at dealers

I was just wondering what your guys take is on buying performance parts from Subaru dealers and getting stuff installed. I know most people like to go to tuner shops for obvious reasons but i was wondering what it was holding people back to get stuff done at a dealership and what us dealers could do to help you guys (and gals) out. I know i have my reasons why sometimes i dont and i work at a dealer. Let me know, thanks everyone for your input.

When Ed Dowell used to work at Renick I would only take my car to him since he helpped me build it. Even if the price was up there and since the going labor rate at the dealer $80 an hour. I would still go to only him. I would wait as long as it takes.

There is a difference between tuners and mechanics.

I think if dealerships had reputable people like Ed Dowell, I think more people would go.

If you can get Koyama from JUN to basically be at the dealership for 1 month with his JUN's staff. I'm sure lots of people will come in for their car to be worked on as long as it was scheduled in advance. As long as its JUN's staff. A lot of companies in China and UK do this. They import tunning shops from Japan for about a month or 2 and let them work out of their facility.

top secret does this too. It's very difficult for japanese tuners to stay in business in japan. They have to travel else where to stay busy.

To build a competitive time attack car even for a subaru I think maybe 50-60k is a nice round number. That is the fab work and other types of labor is either down in house on a volunteer type situation. Other than that I think its do able especially for a dealership. Commercials and ads cost more than this.
