Let me know..... I think our staff great and fair, i have had bad experiencees with other dealers and i try to use those bad experiences to learn how the change things here at Renick ( at least in my dept. in parts) to make things better for you guys. When it comes down to it im a car guy too and nothing is worse than being treated bad at a delaer where you just spent $30,000 on a new car and they just blow you off or try to screw you over with other things that dealers do but i can honestly tell you Renick is not like other dealers i have found and that is in all honesty, im not saying that because i work here or anything i really know that, ive been to south coast, irvine, and every suby dealer in between and non is like this one. If people have been jerks to any of you here I honestly appologize for there actions and i hope that doesnt change your mind about all dealers in general because we are all not the same.

Well its not that I feel the dealerships are jerks. I just treat every dealership with low expectations and when they go above and beyond that, I am happy with their service.

On the flip side of things just because you purchased a 22-35k car doesn't mean the world will bow down to you. Keep it open with an open mind even if their service isn't the greatest. Maybe you should have bought a Ferrari so you know you will get pampered with the service you deserve.

I'm under the impression that you should be treated well regardless of the price of your vehicle. I also feel it's good business practice to cater to the customer as much as possible (within reason of course).

I've worked in customer service or sales in and out of the performance industry for over 10 years, and I always strive to go the extra mile for the customer. Now, going the extra mile doesn't mean you gotta give into the demands of everyone. I hear a lot of people (especially on message boards) complaining about the "Terrible" service they get from this place or that, and demanding things like overnight shipping, or labor costs be covered, etc... and make "threats" that they are gonna tarnish the shops name all over the internet. Now, I would never expect a dealer or shop to succumb to such demands, but things they can do before it gets to that, is maybe not charge 3 bux for a 25 cent vacuum tee that the manufacturer forgot to include, or not charge full retail on fluids required during an install of an already expensive part.

Not that I've had these experiences with any Subaru dealers yet (cuz I haven't put anything on my vehicle yet, and nowadays I do all my own work anyway), but giving a customer a little something in the way of slightly discounted install with a purchase, or not squeezing every last drop of proffit out of them, really makes them feel good about dealing with you and is going to bring them back again. Basically it's my experience that if you aren't cheap, they won't be either.

You make very good points there. I can't speak for Renick but when I used to work for a Subaru shop. Should you buy something from me and have it installed, I would give a discount on the part itself. I would generally knock off 15-20% and slim it down to basically my cost. Sure if something required fluids I would mark it at n/c. I think shops (or the dealer) can sacrifice their jobber cost in exchange for labor per hour.

The difficult part I can see is that at Renick or even at other dealerships the parts dept can say one the while the service says another. This is the main issue I feel that has kept people from going to the dealership for service.

There are cases when people can go a bit overboard in their expectations of quality service. A couple years back we recieved a bench job from a shop (not giving out names). The parts were all provided and the only thing we had to do was just assemble it. I did advise the shop that these parts are no good, but the shop said just put it together, I have a customers car on the lift so get it done! It was a transmission fyi. We assembled, the shifter was able to switch gears. We packed it up sent it back to the shop that asked us to assemble it with the implication it may not work. For a bench job like this which is assembling a transmission we charged $200. Pretty cheap if you ask me.

6 months later we get a call from that shop saying the transmission is busted, its stuck in 2nd gear. We are responsible for it which they claimed. We told them send it back we'll take a look at it. Turns out the forks are bent, a couple chunks of the gears are missing. No way this is a faulty install, if it were you would have been able to notice a problem within the first 50 miles or less. The shop's customer demanded to know who we were and then contacted us. Made threats to myself and the rest of the staff. Demanding us to pay for the busted transmission, give him a rental car and a bunch of other stuff. The bottom line is we recieved the transmission as a blank slate since it was an outsourced job from another shop. We were provided the parts for the install and among other things we warned them there were parts missing and you should not recycle those parts and it was a bench job. I offered him a discounted rate for repair and 30% off replacement parts. He laughed in my face and said this is going all over i-club, I'm going to shut down your shop.

To me this experience was blown way out of propertion. This person basically asked my to get on my knees and bend over and take it since he's the customer and he's right.

All in all we never got a call back from him and business continued as usually.
