To build a competitive time attack car even for a subaru I think maybe 50-60k is a nice round number. That is the fab work and other types of labor is either down in house on a volunteer type situation. Other than that I think its do able especially for a dealership. Commercials and ads cost more than this.

Now one of our members of SCIC went through this. Plastic Cam gear exploded, which caused my friend to crash his car since he lost all power.
The dealer claimed the Plastic Cam gear failed due to the driver impacting or crashing into a guard rails. So the cause of this is driver.
When you look at the car or the damage, sure the bumper is mangled. The radiator core support is bent. But there is nothing contacting the engine let alone the time gear cover. I've seen various pictures of that cover becoming exposed (broken chunks) just from normal wear and tear from a lot of members. Not even a tie rod or control arm broke or bent. Yet the dealership could safely say the impact resulted in the Cam gear failure not the other way around.
With an issue like this, I feel it should have been covered under warranty.

ya, that makes no sense at all. But how did the plastic cam gear break in the first place? Those gears dont just shatter by themselves for no reason, dont get me wrong im not trying to imply anything i was just wondering, but as far as that dealer goes i totally agree with you.

I think its great you are sponsoring Team Orange. The problem is for the die hard fans, they'll know the cars were built by JUN. If you want people to come into the dealership and have their cars worked on by your techs, you will need to showcase some of your work.
Its kinda of like Prodrive. You see their name all over WRC. I want Prodrive products because they make great rally cars.
With the Team Orange situation. Wow look the Team Orange is rocking a Renick Motorsports sticker!
Don't get me wrong Renick has always had access to a lot of the good ole Aussie stuff ever since I can remember. If I never had it in stock, I would call Bret because maybe he did. In terms of parts their division is fine. When it comes to service or getting your car worked on. It'll take more than a sticker or maybe even a car on display.
I was at the track last weekend and Harman brought out their cars. 1 STI and 1 Legacy. OMG those cars were fast. Despite all the bad things I've heard about Harman, there cars are fast.

agreed on all levels.... and as for the Team Orange thing i know exactly what you are sayin, its just cool that such a reputible team and driver are acknowledgeing us as a good performance parts dealer in general. As for JUN, they are tuning gods......and the guys at Harmen are great people and they do build some crazy fast STI's.

I might need cam gears.
If your staff is cool and not jerks like most dealers, word of mouth will get around. I've never been to your dealer so I don't know how your staff is. But I know its a common issue with most dealers.

If Bret is still at Renick then thats a good thing. He's been around even before me. And I'm pretty ancient.
