problem running 3.5g is that they there's less coverage than 3g and when you're out of 3.5g range you go back to edge of course, think imma revert to 3g for most of the usage. i wish they could revert to 3g if out of 3.5g range but there hasn't been a fix for that yet.

looks like it was launch same time as 3g, but it seems like on forum they haven't really used it to it's full potential. and g1 is cable of it so it's only a matter of time now.

Actual up/down thoroughput is more limited at this point by T-Mo's 3G buildout and network load than the hardware on the G1 at the moment.
