I was flabergasted when I first read this that anyone would not believe we were on the moon. Then I started thinking- I actually knew some of the early astonauts.I was an instructor for some of them on jets they flew in later years. It wasn't like they were fuzzy pictures. They were Real people who did real things. Then I fast forwarded to today and thought what a horrendous batch of absolute lying ****s run the government today,no wonder a 20 something would think these were all lies. These aren't lies, but perhaps the easiest way to explain it is (if you guys are even old enough to remember this) the russians were not exactly our good budies. The technology was already very well developed to track a vehicle from the earth to the moon,on the moon, and all the way back, etc.etc for pictures, radio transmitions etc. The Russians would have called our *** on a stunt like this in a fraction of a second. You have to realize the Russians were literally mortal enemies in that period. Trust this they never doubted what happened for a second.

My head hurt from reading this.

I won't try and pick apart all the "arguments", but I will ask one simple question that just doesn't make sense to me:

Can someone who is not wearing a tin foil hat please explain to me why our government would fake the moon landings? One time, maybe twice, I could understand and possibly buy as a conspiracy theory. But we went to the moon NINE (9) times.

If you recall Vietnam was going on. There was a lot of civil unreset through out the country. These events brought people together and brought a sense of patirotism to a country in turmoil.

Make sure you read this link
One example
http://www.wherewereyou.com/frames/war.html

When was the last Apollo mission?

Just in case you don't know Apollo 17

A commemorative plaque at the Taurus-Littrow valley.

On it was written, "Here man completed his first explorations of the Moon, December 1972."

World news

January 1, 1972
Only 133,000 U.S. servicemen remain in South Vietnam. Two thirds of America's troops have gone in two years. The ground war is now almost exclusively the responsibility of South Vietnam, which has over 1,000,000 men enlisted in its armed forces.

December 17, 1972

A commemorative plaque at the Taurus-Littrow valley.

On it was written, "Here man completed his first explorations of the Moon, December 1972."

March 1973
The last American combat soldiers leave South Vietnam, though military advisors and Marines, who are protecting U.S. installations, remain. For the United States, the war is officially over. Of the more than 3 million Americans who have served in the war, almost 58,000 are dead, and over 1,000 are missing in action. Some 150,000 Americans were seriously wounded.

What is this driving to?

Taoism has a philosophy (that makes sense) that reminds one not to preoccupy ones mind in that it can cause you to lose focus. Example: How do you take something from a baby? Give the baby something else to focus on and when their mind is preoccupied with it take what you want.

I'm not promoting Taoism but reference a thought that makes sense.

So, to answer your question give the people something else to think about, something to be proud about. Bring unity to a country falling apart and it worked.

the article touches on that.

The experiment was first made possible by a retroreflector array installed on July 21, 1969, by the crew of the Apollo 11. Two more retroreflector arrays left by the Apollo 14 and Apollo 15 missions have contributed to the experiment.

The unmanned Soviet Lunokhod 1 and Lunokhod 2 rovers carried smaller arrays. Reflected signals were initially received from Lunokhod 1, but no return signals have been detected since 1971, at least in part due to some uncertainty in its location on the Moon. Lunokhod 2's array continues to return signals to Earth.[1]

The Apollo 15 array is three times the size of the arrays left by the two earlier Apollo missions. Its size made it the target of three-quarters of the sample measurements taken in the first 25 years of the experiment. Improvements in technology since then have resulted in greater use of the smaller arrays, by sites such as the McDonald Observatory and the OCA Laser-Lune telemetry station affiliated with the Côte d'Azur Observatory.
