LOS ANGELES -- An 18-year-old man was shot multiple times while driving on the San Diego (405) Freeway early Sunday morning.
The victim told police that he was driving on the San Diego Freeway in the Northridge area -- between Roscoe and Nordoff boulevards -- around 1 a.m. when someone in a black Honda opened fire on him. The car, with five people inside, drove off. The victim said his assailants had shaved heads, NBC4 reported.
The wounded driver pulled off the freeway and flagged down a passing police officer.
Roughly 20 minutes after the first incident, another motorist reported being shot at while driving on the 210 Freeway at Hubbard Street in Sylmar, police said. That driver was not hit, and police have not confirmed that a gun was fired.
The shooting on the San Diego Freeway was the sixth confirmed incident in recent weeks in which a Southern California motorist has been wounded or killed by freeway gunfire.
More patrols have been added to local freeways as a result of the shootings.

A kid that went to high school with me got the best of some kids that pulled a gun on him in traffic. He was trying to get in and they wouldn't let him. He kept trying and they pulled a gun, pointed it at him and started laughing. They were unaware that he carried a concealed weapon (legally). When they put the gun down he shoot through their window and killed them. He gave a statement in court and it was ruled self defense because the police attested to the fact that the passenger had a loaded weapon in his lap at the time of the shooting.
