I'd say the M3 would win, because of the torque. If you are talking about the STI................

I'd say the USDM STI.

I was once agressively driving with an 98 M3 on the 110 Freeway going towards Pas at night, (not street racing, DONT STREET RACE but spirited driving!) and the freeway was wide open. If you've never been on the 110, its' like a Go Kart track. Anyways, the RS was able to hang with the M3 until the straights when it took off like a rocket. However, combination of driver skill + car will eat any car out there alive if you are behind the wheel of an M3 on the 110.

Anyways, if you want to beat/hang with your friend, try the Vishnu Stage 0 or ISpeed ECUtek . It makes a huge difference over stock.

PM christoph1371@ispeedusa, he's going to have something in the works for us pretty soon.

it was the funniest thing, in the wee hours of the morning, around 2 or 3 am, back when my car was bone stock, i happened to see thisj m3 (95-2000) and i guess we both were car guys because when the light turned green, we both took off and shifted at redline, well i didnt want to go pass100mph, and by that time i was trailing by less than a quarter of a hood.

My experience w/ a '98

I had a run-in w/ one and walked him... from a roll, I started in second gear @ 3500 rpm... I slightly pulled til he was at my rear bumper. Shut it down when I went into 5th. Then from a stop, I got half a car length, then started walking (had my nike's on).

I was kinda confused because I thought I'd get beat. Anyway, that was a lame post... but true. Only mods I have that would make any performance is a turbo-back exhaust (3").

BTW-- I was also driving with spirit... much safer than that unsafe WRX commercial... geeze
