Dude was the Evo8 based on the Lancer platform? Or did it look like it was actually based on the true Evo? I saw an Evo7 last year at the Treeline rally, and the interior was nice. I think Mitsu is lowering their standards to maximize the popularity of the evo by lowering quality to increase profits. I really hate the new nose that Mitsu is going after. It's disgusting!

i'm glad subaru, even though they had to make cutbacks for the STi/WRX, hasn't given us the same lower quality car that the US evolution has. sure, we don't have the nicer seats, and we have less HP, but that has more to do with US safety regulations and our poor fuel grade than with cost effectiveness. i am curious to see the STi and more importantly, what all the magazines have to say when comparing the US spec evolution and STi. i can almost guarantee that they are all going to say that the evolution feels cheaper than the STi.
but still, people are going to buy the evolution like crazy because of mitsubishi's huge marketing scheme. by the end of the year, everyone who is into cars, or watches tv will know what the evolution is. i still get people asking what kind of car i am driving, and the thing has been out for 2 years now. plus the evolution has features that people want like 4 way adjustable HID projectors, sunroof, recaro seats, etc. and things sound impressive like "170mph speedo", but when you look at it, it's really crappy looking and small. not impressive.
it's like one of those infomericals where it looks all awesome on the ad and then when you get it it's just not as nice as you thought it would be. go check it out, you'll see. i'm not a DSM hater. i was all hyped about the evolution until i saw it. 271hp, etc, etc. i'm sure it's fast with great handling, but in all honesty it really feels like you are sitting in an OZ rally lancer, not one of the worlds greatest sport sedans. kind of sad.

Hey Eric,
Long time no talk. Anyways, I have yet to check out the EVO. So is it really based on the US Lancer? Why the hell are we getting the Eclipse motor?

I think Mitsubishi has already nailed the coffin with the introduction of the EVO8. Its pure junk. I really hate the new nose that DSM is going for their entire lineup. Dude those wheels were jacked from a 2.5 rs!

Front Mount Intercooler?
Hollow Camshafts?
Twin-Scroll Turbocharger?
Peaks at 19psi at 3500rpm and is up to 16psi at 6500?
Redlines at 7000rpm?
This doesn't sound like the DSM engine to me. Eric m, get your facts straight....
