Cannonball!: World's Greatest Outlaw Road Race
Our review: The most entertaining car book I've ever read! The history of the real underground Cannonball races that took place in the 1970s. My favorite story was the of the two Jaguar XJS drivers who did the race with a medical cooler with two pig eyes. When pulled over, they would open the cooler and say, "Officer, we're rushing to save a child's sight." Great fun! Written by Car and Driver editor Brock Yates, the creator of the Cannonball.
